Welcome to Year 5!
P5 have been exploring our very own Blue Planet. We have been thinking about the water on earth and how it is part of a cycle. Mrs McMurray loved teaching us about the water table too. We found it very interesting exploring the issue of water poverty and the reasons for it. We know that many children across the world don't have access to clean water and this makes life very hard for them.
We had fun working in teams trying to come up with our own filtration stations. We were amazed at our success.
We also designed a fair test to see which substances are soluble or insoluble.
This term, we thought about fiction and non fiction in literacy. We wrote some fantastic reports about snakes. We loved finding out about anacondas and boa constrictors and don't fancy ever meeting one of them in the wild!
Ask us to tell you the time! We can give you the answer in analogue or digital! We are continuing to learn our times tables and are getting quicker at them. Quick recall is vitally important. We also explored fractions and have made the link with division. It's all connected!
We have been studying the work of the artist Claude Monet. We talked about his life and looked at many of his paintings. We had a go recreating his famous Water Lillies 1914. It was really good fun and we're pleased with our efforts. Check out our attempts below.
