Using ICT (Information and Communications Technology) describes the ability to handle and communicate information, solve problems, pose questions and be creative through the use of technology.
Through ICT in Edenbrooke pupils have opportunities to transfer their knowledge, understanding and skills in a variety of meaningful contexts across the curriculum.
This includes:
All classes in Edenbrooke have interactive whiteboards with connected Apple TV. Each class has its own small set of 6 iPads, which are able to be used for individual activities or shared for group work. These resource are used effectively to enhance teaching and learning. The staff have received expert-led training on the use of iPads and are developing the use of educational technology within their classrooms. Staff continue to develop their expertise and confidence in this area of ICT through ongoing support and training from the ICT team and outside agencies.
Each year in term three we have an iPad week, last year children engaged in making GreenScreen Movies and News Reports, editing them and sharing them with classmates as well as with parents during our iPad afternoons. Parents had their own training session on iPad use in our Parent's Room. This year Edenbrooke participated in EU Code Week, teaching and developing children's interest in coding and programming, with special lessons for KS2 which included programming flying drones. In addition to this every pupil in the school completed an Hour of Code over EU Code week, receiving a special certificate.
We also have a full computer suite with 18 working computers, which are used by all classes on a regular basis. Pupils take part in computer clubs in our own school and in the Girls' Model, which help children to explore more varied skills and ICT experiences.
