Welcome to Primary 6!
This term in P6 we have been learning all about recounts. We have read lots of recounts and identified the features of them so we can write our own. We have written diary entries as Viking children. We loved getting into character and imagining what daily life would have been like all those years ago! Have a look at some of our diary entries! Our teachers are very impressed!!
We have also been learning how to add description to our writing to make it more interesting. This has included adding amazing adjectives and most recently similes! Our teachers gave us the task of making up Spooky Similes with a partner. Great fun was had by everyone and we came up with some super descriptive sentences!!
This term we have been very busy revising our number facts - x2, x3, x4 and x5, doubling, halving and adding/subtracting 2-digit numbers within 100. Wow!! We have used these facts to solve word problems and used maths language to talk about our thinking.
We have also been learning about the properties of 2D and 3D shapes and the relationship between them.
World Around Us
This term we are learning all about The Vikings. We know that they lived in Scandinavia over a thousand years ago. They were fierce warriors and navigated the seas attacking towns and cities.
We designed our own shields- take a look!!
We found out about traditional Viking clothes and jewellery as well as the types of materials they used to make them. We made our own brooches using clay. We used tools to create intricate patterns and designs just like the Vikings. Have a look at our brooches we have on display.
