Welcome to Primary 5!
P5 have been reading Fantastic Mr Fox, by Roald Dahl. We are loving the story! We have been introduced to the characters; Mr Fox, Mrs Fox and their four Small Foxes and the nasty Boggis, Bunce and Bean. We have been looking at how Roald Dahl has created the characters using adjectives, some of our favourites descriptions include, Bunce, 'a kind of pot-bellied dwarf' and Bean who is 'as thin as a pencil'.
Last year, we learned our 2,5 and 10 times tables. This term we have been learning our 3 times tables and are ready to start our 4s. We have been thinking about how our times tables could help us solve real-life problems.
We carried out surveys to find out what our favourite pets are and our favourite colours. When we had all the information we presented it on bar charts and pictograms.
The World Around Us
This term our topic is called ‘The Tudors, The Traitors and a Whopping Great Fire’, we have been learning about King Henry VIII and his six wives. We are glad that we don’t have to suffer Barber Surgeons, who would happily chop your leg off if you complain too much that it’s sore. We were surprised to discover the Tudor test for witchcraft, let’s just say, it never ended well!
We are looking forward to finding out who Guy Fawkes was and how a great fire ripped through the heart of Old London, destroying everything in its path.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
