Welcome to Primary 7!
During the Autumn term, P7 have been studying biographies and autobiographies. We have been discovering information about the life of Roald Dahl and John Lennon by reading a range of texts. We used the texts to find specific information and created timelines about John Lennon using pencil and paper, and ICT. We also researched the life of Charles Dickens and used this information to plan and write a biography.
In World Around Us we have been learning all about the human body. We are delighted to have the opportunity to be working with medical students from Queen’s University, Belfast. They have been visiting us weekly in school and teaching us about our muscles, bones and healthy living.
P7 is an important year and we have been working on the skills we will need for our next school. Aaron and Harvey from Sport Changes Life have been visiting us and encouraging us to think about friendships and building our self-esteem through sport. We participated in a festival at the Hammer Youth Club with other local schools and enjoyed making new friends.
P7 enjoyed a ‘taster day’ at the Boys’ and Girls’ Model Schools. We were able to take part in a range of lessons such as Home Economics, Art, Science, Robotics and Music. It was exciting to look around a post-primary school and find out what interesting and new subjects we can expect to study next year.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
