Welcome to Primary 7!
Literacy
During the Autumn term, P7 have been studying biographies and autobiographies. We have been discovering information about the life of Roald Dahl and John Lennon by reading a range of texts. We used the texts to find specific information and created timelines about John Lennon using pencil and paper, and ICT. We also found and recorded facts about Roald Dahl in his biography.
Art
This term we have been studying portraits. We have looked at the work of Picasso and cubism. We recreated his picture of “The Weeping Woman”.
Next we had a go at creating our own cubism self-portraits. They were quite tricky but we think they turned out really well!
Pupil Report
In P7 we have been learning about the Victorians! They had toys like wind-up toys and noughts and Crosses. We still have Noughts and Crosses to this day! In Victorian times they used to use a church as a school and now we use a modern school that has books and calculators but they used slates and abacuses. At school they also had corporal punishments like hitting them with their belt, locking them up and also putting dunce hats on them. Queen Victoria was the Queen at that time and that's where the Victorians got their name from! Some people were very poor so the rich people showed of their wealth by having glass windows and better things than the poor people. The poor people had no glass windows.
