Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
We wore our sports clothes to school to fundraise for Children in Need.
P1-P3 took part in a star jumps competition.
P4-P7 took part in a Bear Burpee competition.
We had great fun and were all exhausted by the end. We raised lots of money for Pudsey!
On Friday 25th October we held a special ditch the dark day. To raise awareness of safe travel to school as the days become darker, the pupils walked and cycled to school looking as bright and shiny as possible! The pupils got as creative as possible and added lots of colour to their outfits– fluorescent coats, glow sticks, stripy scarves, bright school bags and neon wigs!
Both P4 classes took part in a Monster Craft activity with Beverley. They created some bright and colourful monsters to help them remember to be safe and be seen on their journey to school.
Have a look at this fantastic creation!
Sustrans Active School Travel Programme
We are delighted to have been chosen to be part of the Active School Travel Programme. We will be working with Beverley Gaston, our Sustrans Active Travel Officer, to promote more journeys to school by walking, cycling or scooting. Active travel has a range of benefits including improving health, promoting independence, improving safety awareness, benefiting the environment and reducing the number of cars around the school gates, making our school safer for everyone.
We understand cycling or walking to school is not easy for every family, and there will be opportunities for all children to participate in some activities in the programme.
Safety is very important to our school; parents can help, for example by ensuring children are wearing bright clothes to help them be seen by road users, or if you drive by watching out for pupils walking. The decision as to whether a child is competent to cycle, scoot or walk to and from school rests with the parents/carers.
We look forward to seeing more children and parents/carers cycling, walking and scooting to school this year!
"Today (24.4.17) our school was visited by Google expeditions. We got to use the Google Cardboard which is a VR set. I really enjoyed it and my class got to visit a Rainforest. We found out some interesting facts about Orang-Utans like: Orang-Utans share 97% of human DNA! I really enjoyed it and after a while I forgot that I was in school!" By Christine P7
“I enjoyed Google cardboard because it was cool how we could just see everything just by looking around. It is basically a cheaper version of a VR (Virtual Reality) headset that you can get for gaming and although you can’t properly game there are some games that support it, you don’t have to game with it you can watch videos, look around 360 pictures and see some things you would miss from just looking at a normal picture.” Saul P7
“Today we did a fun thing Google Cardboard.
We all loved it. Some people felt a bit dizzy, but I loved it.” Lucas P5L
"I really liked Goggle Expeditions. Google Cardboard is a box with a phone in it, it is a VR set. You can type in where you want to go and you can have a look about your destination. P5 looked at Egypt, we could see the Sphinx. The pyramids were huge, when you looked down you were floating in the air. It was a really fun experience." Dylan P5L
Five Things about Google Expeditions
I liked the way you felt as if you were in where ever you picked.
Google Expeditions is a fun way to explore the world as a kid.
My teacher Miss Lloyd took my class to visit our new topic Egypt.
I saw all the pyramids and tombs.
I love Google Expeditions and I would give them 10 out of 10!

"I really enjoyed Google expeditions because the headsets made you think you were there. I think that the graphics were really good and I think it is the best thing Google invented. I also think it would be good to help children learn about W.A.U. I think it is amazing and I would recommend it to any people who want to use it. When our class went there we were looking at orang-utans in Borneo. It was great because you could see the orang-utans close up. On our trip to Borneo, we also saw the process of deforestation happening. This is bad because it leaves animals without their natural habitat. It made me think about all the ways we use the rainforests, such as materials, palm oil, fruits and cola.
I would give Google expeditions five stars."

Last night our P7s performed with Stringtastic in the Elmwood Hall in Belfast.
The children perfomed a soundscape play which they had written, designed and illustrated themselves alongside P7s from Holy Cross Boys' School.
Everyone played their parts fantastically and we are we are so proud of them!
Well done to everyone involved!
A special thank you goes to Miss Thompson, Patricia and the other staff involved.
